The Editorial Freelancers Association Ruth Mullen Memorial Scholarship is offered to college students pursuing a bachelor's or graduate degree at an HBCU or any college or university as a full-time student. Students who plan to major in advertising, communications, creative writing, English, entrepreneurship, foreign languages, journalism, marketing, mass communication, or media communications are encouraged to apply.

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Current sophomore, junior, or senior at any 4year HBCU, or first-year graduate student at any U.S. institution
  • Seeking a bachelor's, graduate, or postdoctoral degree in English and other languages, English or other literature, writing, journalism, linguistics, rhetoric, scriptwriting, screenwriting, science writing, marketing, advertising, mass communications, media communications, web or social media writing and communications, copywriting, public relations, or entrepreneurship as a full-time student
